Manual processing may introduce subjective, irreproducible decisions into the data processing work flow, reducing consistency in processing between surveys. We introduce the R package EchoviewR as an interface between R and Echoview, a commercially available acoustic processing software package. EchoviewR allows for automation of Echoview using scripting which can drastically reduce the manual work required when processing acoustic surveys. This package plays an important role in reducing subjectivity in acoustic data processing by allowing exactly the same process to be applied automatically to multiple surveys and documenting where subjective decisions have been made. Using data from a survey of Antarctic krill, we provide two examples of using EchoviewR: krill biomass estimation and swarm detection.

Feasibility Study of Real-time and Automated Monitoring of Iranian Rivers using 50-kHz Fluvial Acoustic Tomography System
Acoustic Tomography (AT) technique is an innovative method for real-time river monitoring. In this study, not only the accuracy of flow velocity measurement using 50 kHz AT system which is appropriate for narrow rivers (most Iranian rivers) is evaluated, but also its performance is compared with 30 kHz one which is used in wide rivers. The comparison results showed that the velocity resolutions...

Soundscape analysis, using acoustic indices, provides researchers with valuable ecological information to assess biodiversity, species behavior, and noise pollution. In this study, to analyze biophonies and anthrophony in six urban parks in Isfahan city in spring, six acoustic indices, including Acoustic complexity index (ACI), Acoustic Diversity Index (ADI), Acoustic Evenness Index (AEI), an...
متن کاملIdentification of selected monogeneans using image processing, artificial neural network and K-nearest neighbor
Abstract Over the last two decades, improvements in developing computational tools made significant contributions to the classification of biological specimens` images to their correspondence species. These days, identification of biological species is much easier for taxonomist and even non-taxonomists due to the development of automated computer techniques and systems. In this study, we d...
متن کاملData Mining in R using Rattle
This paper is a brief introduction to the concepts, methods and algorithms for data mining in statistical software R using a package named Rattle. Rattle provides a good graphical environment to perform some of the procedures and algorithms without the need for programming. Some parts of the package will be explained by a number of examples. ...
